Dear ASCO Colleagues, The Festive Season is here!

Xmas is the time to show our gratitude and give to those in need. The Antonio Banderas/Nkosi’s Haven collaboration demonstrated that “we can all do what we can with what we have; in the time, we have and in the place we are”. ASCO has elected Nkosi’s Haven as the beneficiary of our first Santa’s shoe box drive.

Nkosi’s Haven is home to children and mothers that have been affected by HIV/AIDS. The home supports 97 children, of which approximately 80 are orphans. In addition, 37 displaced mothers and caregivers.

We would like to give these boxes to Nkosi’s Haven at the end of November and would love for you to get involved by pledging your commitment towards this drive by contributing a new and age appropriate item of clothing and a toy.

ASCO will be donating the following items in each shoe box:

Toiletries – tooth brush, tooth paste, bar of soap and a wash cloth

Stationery – HB pencil, coloured pencils, a ruler, eraser, sharpener and a pair of scissors and a special treat!

About Nkosi’s Haven:

Nkosi’s Haven started in 1999 and offers holistic care and support for destitute HIV/AIDS infected mothers, their children, and resulting AIDS orphans (infected or not). It is named after Nkosi Johnson, the remarkable young AIDS activist who passed away on June 1st 2001. After being separated from his own mom because of the HIV diagnosis, he never wanted that to happen to any other child.

Pledge your commitment by 15 November by emailing ([email protected]). We will then let you know the name and age of the recipient so you can buy your gift accordingly.

1. Find an empty shoebox

2. Be creative and decorate the shoe box

3. Fill in the box with the following gifts
   1. An outfit of clothing
   2. A toy
4. Please remember that all items must be new and age appropriate

                5. Leave a special message for the recipient

                6. Drop your box off at the designated drop off point in the Deli by the 27 November 2017
