Make-Up Artist & Field Trainer: Givenchy

MAIN PURPOSE: Brand Make-up Artist, BA management, training, counter development, events and promotions, assist in the co-ordination with Beauty Consultants and internal relevant parties.

KEY ACTIVITIES
- Stimulate open & regular communication with BAs to ensure close affiliation with the brand.
- Drive motivation levels through communicating brand highlights & strengths, encouraging pride and nurturing a good spirit among BA’S.
- Develop & train BA’s on problem areas where necessary.
- Assist in applicable steps to rectify problematic behavior such as coaching.
- Ensuring that labor law policies & procedures are followed at all times by consulting with ASCO HR and Edgars Department when disciplinary action needs to be taken.
- Portraying the highest possible image of the brand so as to lead by example (manners, in store etiquette, customer approaches etc).
- Ensure appropriate support levels are allocated towards the development of new counters – tools, counter management system, sampling, etc.
- Assist in recruitment & assignment of BAs to avoid open vacancies & ensure coverage of counters at all times.
- Arrange, co-ordinate & implement monthly / bi-monthly BA trainings.
- Stage trainings in a welcoming atmosphere that stimulates interaction & learning.
- Implement new concepts, & techniques to keep trainings fresh & exciting.
- Conduct on counter BA training – drive application, sell-through, and workshop capabilities.
- Identify BA training needs & implement corrective action where necessary (on counter training).
- Conduct induction type training on product (fragrance, colour & treatment), selling techniques (processes) and application skills for new consultants.
- Ensure that training presentations are professional, easy to read & at the same luxury standard as the brand.
- Arrange, co-ordinate & implement training material and/or product information from Paris
- Assist in driving and monitoring sell-in targets per counter per category per planned animations/workshops.
- Assist in coordinating on-counter events & promotions according to the launch plan & sales targets.
- Monitor BA discipline at counters (customer cards, loyalty program, and tester hygiene) and direct BA’s where necessary.
- Initiate a loyalty program in line or above industry giants YSL/ Lancome/ Dior/ Channel Estee Lauder – capitalize on any identified gaps.
- Assist in managing international make-up artist tours from beginning to end.
- Work three full days (including Saturday) in stores per week, to conduct on counter events.
- Identify new sales opportunities & assist in conceptualizing sales strategies accordingly.
- Monitor counters’ performance according to targets, implement corrective action where necessary, acknowledge good performers & motivate BAs to perform at their best.
- Suggest corrective stock injections to cosmetics buyers when the need arises (such as stock shortages & retek discrepancies).
- Train and communicate Givenchy launches, brand activity plan, counter development initiatives to beauty consultants.
- Ensure brand programs are clearly communicated and delivered in line with best in class benchmarks.
- Focus in providing timeous communication to all relevant parties offering the necessary tools.
- Build in key deadlines by drawing a timeline schedule behind upcoming important initiatives Launch of Colour Looks, new initiatives, line extensions, replacement products, international make-up artist visits, press launches, etc.
- Ensure timeous, accurate communication to all relevant parties, availing all relevant tools.
- Ensure excellent implementation of cosmetic launches at counters through coordinating all necessary elements (Dispatch of merchandising elements, samples, branding, BA clothing etc).
- Drive BA, store manager, etc awareness of marketing programs & brand initiatives in stores.
- Identify opportunities for additional visibility in stores.
- Ensure Givenchy counters dominate their retail space with exposure for new launches.
- Build or maintain brand equity standards.
- Ensure merchandising meets supplier standards within counters.
- Ensure timeous accurate information and tools are provided to all relevant.
- Consistency of standards.
- Participation in the general functioning of the Givenchy business.
- Assist in feedback regarding cosmetics for forecast requests & new launches.
- Assisting with international visits, retailer meetings, press events & other brand official functions.
- Management of tactical promotions for cosmetics products.
- Suggest and follow up on in store merchandising opportunities improving the brands overall in store visibility, ensuring best in class standards.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Organisational skills.
- Good presentation and communication skills and the ability to do public speaking.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Proven training skills.
- Creative flair.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours.
- An understanding of make-up application and skincare technology.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Matric
- Make-up or related formal qualification
- Code 8 driver’s license.
- A minimum of two years’ retail experience.
- Computer literacy.
- Studies toward a tertiary qualification in Marketing or Commercial would be an advantage.
