Marketing Manager – L’Occitane

Head Office, Sales & Marketing

Main Purpose:

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the communication and maintenance of global Marketing values, aligning market and Marketing strategy, providing a clear vision and position to the Marketing, and keeping track of business performance, opportunities and threats. The Marketing Manager also acts as the direct contact for all marketing, events, visual merchandising and training activities with clients and regional office.

Main Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy

  • Plan, develop and implement the Marketing strategy in local market to achieve the designated objectives set by the regional office.
  • Communicate annual Marketing plan and initiatives to all relevant departments and retailers.
  • Have an acute understanding of the Marketing, its principles and communicate them to all clients.
  • Co-ordinate with all departments on aspects of planning, budgeting, and implementation of Marketing/Media & PR/Visual Merchandising/Training

Marketing Performance Analysis

  • Consolidate local reports and provide periodic analysis executive summary internally and to regional office.
  • Analyse variations between periodic sales projections and actual sales.
  • Recommend immediate action plans to all departments (re-order, specific line targets, transfers)

Reporting

  • Follow up on sales reports and use information to act when necessary.
  • Record, monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activities and provides suggested action plans.
  • Provide top management and regional office with quantitative and qualitative reports using data from market studies.

Buying

  • Review ‘trend projection’ and pre-buying package (store/country/network) based on sell out, actual stock, planned new openings, etc…
  • Ensure that orders are made to regional office as per budget and forecast, taking lead-time into consideration.

Clients

  • Have a direct understanding of client needs in each area and react accordingly.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively any relevant data provided by the Marketing.
  • Create a rapport with each client to sustain good working relations.
  • Ensure that all clients have the sufficient and applicable tools as per principle to optimise sell out.

Administration

  • Compile the business review elements to be discussed regularly with the regional office.
  • Report any relevant regional economic activities to principle on a regular basis.
  • Ensure receiving periodic analytical reports from all areas.

Financials

  • Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale of products, lines, or services, analysing business developments and monitoring market trends.

Optimise Human Potential

  • Make recommendations on hiring, termination, promotion, and discipline as required.
  • Manage, engage, guide, and conduct the appraisal and assessment of own team members.
  • Set the objectives and budgets for own team members and ensure their accomplishment.
  • Responsible for coaching and training own team members

Qualifications and Attributes Required:

  • A BA/BCom degree or a National Diploma in Marketing
  • 2-3 years Brand Management Experience preferably within the cosmetic industry
  • Buying or Merchant experience an added advantage.
  • Code 8 Drivers’ license
  • Knowledge of the market
  • Willingness to work extended hours.
  • Good organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure, use initiative and take ownership of tasks.
  • Superior computer literacy, especially in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Presentable appearance
  • Own transport essential
  • Highly motivated and professional.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive & desire to achieve outstanding business results.
  • Need good communication and analytical skills & the ability to multi-task are necessary.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Superior Communication / Presentation Skills
